ACCCP Advisory Committee on the Cities for Climate Protection Program • “Seeks to achieve environmental, economic and societal sustainability by raising public awareness and influencing the community, including its government, to reduce detrimental environmental impacts and energy expenditures.” • Now have: • 5 Full Members • 4 Associate Members

  4. CCP Program Milestones • Conduct a Green House Gas Emissions Inventory • Set an Emission Reduction Target • Develop a Local Action Plan • Implement the Local Action Plan • Monitor Progress and Report Results

  5. Milestone 1: Result Total Reading Emissions: 292,000 tons

  6. Milestones 2 through 5: Status • Milestone 2 - Target: Reading to reduce its Greenhouse Gas emissions 10% by 2012 • Milestone 3 - Climate Action Plan:Completed in February of 2008 • Milestone 4 – Implementation: Update on Progress Tonight • Milestone 5 - Monitor: Baseline year: 2000 with data from 2000-2003Benchmark against our baseline this year using 2008 data
