  1. Maintaining Accreditation The whys, hows, whats and whens.

  2. Why? • As a NST (New Scheme teacher) you are required to complete a T2 report every 5 years of your teaching career. • Lets look at one now. • http://new-scheme-teachers.wikispaces.com/Maintaining+Accreditation

  3. How do I track my evidence? • You must complete 50 hours of teacher Identified (TI) hours and 50 hours of Institute registered (IR) hours every five years. • You must have these cover every standard of Element 6 and at least 1 standard from every other element. • The very best way to track your pl is by using mypl@det. Let us now look at an example:

  4. MyPL example:

  5. Alternative • We do not always get to a computer, so please here is a way to track pl until you have time to get to mypl. • http://new-scheme-teachers.wikispaces.com/Maintaining+Accreditation

  6. How do I use mypl? • The two most useful features of mypl@det: • 1: Search for an event • 2: Professional learning log- N.B- TI will need to be double entered on Institute site, IR will transfer over.

  7. Search for an event.

  8. Professional Learning Log

  9. How do I get some IR PL? • The Classroom Teacher Program (CTP) is an excellent source of IR PL. • Let us take a look at it now…

  10. CTP

  11. Where do I start with CTP? • If you have not already done so, you should complete the module Developing your personal professional learning plan. • This module is available for registration via mpl@det and I can validate that for you. Let’s look:

  12. Developing your personal professional learning plan.

  13. Worksheets you will complete in this module. http://new-scheme-teachers.wikispaces.com/Maintaining+Accreditation

  14. Registering for module.

  15. Where to now? • Now that you have completed your professional learning plan, you should have some idea of what elements you need to focus on. • Lets go back to the CTP and see what might suit…. • When you find one that suits your needs, we can use some TPL time to release you to complete these modules. Also, I will schedule them on mypl so you can enrol and I can validate your learning.

  16. Getting to the CTP

  17. Now what… • Please spend the remainder of the workshop exploring mypl and CTP to develop a plan of action to support your personal PL and your maintenance of accreditation.
