Queen ElizabethThe first • Queen Elizabeth I Died on 24 March 1603 (of blood poisoning) - she was nearly70 years of age • Queen Elizabeth I Reigned for 45 years from 1558 – 1603 • Her mother, Anne Boleyn, was accused of adultery and incest ( with her brother George Boleyn) and was beheaded at the Tower of London • Princess Elizabeth lived with her stepmother Katharine Parr and her husband Thomas Seymour - she was sent away in disgrace amid rumors that she was having an affair with Seymour! • Queen Elizabeth almost died of Smallpox in 1562 and was left with scars on her face - these were covered with the heavy white make-up which was fashionable at the time • She never met her cousin and rival, Mary Queen of Scots, although she was imprisoned in England for many years Elizabeth was born on the 7th September 1533 at Greenwich Palace. She was named after her two grandmothers, Elizabeth Howard and Elizabeth of York. Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry VIII and his second wife Anne Boleyn.Anne Boleyn was executed by order of King Henry when Elizabeth was two years old.

William Shakespeare • Nobody knows the birthday of William Shakespeare ,William was born 1564, died 1616 • He got married to Anne Hathaway • Anne Hathaway was eight years older than Shakespeare and three months pregnant when they got married! • They had 3 children Susannah, born in 1583; Hamnet and Judith (twins), born in 1585

Tudor Homes • Tudor Houses were usually made of timber (wood) and wattle and daub. • Wattle is the intertwined sticks that are placed in a wall between posts • Daub is a mixture of clay, sand and dung that is smeared (daubed) into and over the wattle to make the wall.  • The daub was often painted with lime wash making it look white. • The wooden timbers were often coated with black tar to help protect them from rotting.

  5. Transport. • Coaches began to be developed in late Tudor times as a new approach was taken to road maintenance. The parish was made responsible for the roads through Acts of Parliament passed between 1555 and1573 but for some people they couldn't afford coaches so they just used horses . • If wooden coach is plumed with expensive feathers. The spokes of the wheels have been turned on a lathe. It is fitted with draped, silk curtains, it belongs to somebody very wealthy
