  2. Plot A modern take on Romeo and Juliet against the backdrop of New York's Upper West Side. Instead of two families there are two rival gangs: the Puerto Rican Sharks led by Bernardo and American Jets led by Riff. Despite belonging to rival gangs, when Tony and Maria meet during a ball it’s love at first sight. While they declare their sentiments, the Sharks and the Jets will compete in a decisive battle for the control of territory: Tony tries to quell the riot, but Bernardo is wounded to death by Riff. Tony, blinded by the madness to avenge the death of his friend, kills Bernardo, brother of the woman he loves. The atmosphere heats up and the twists are not slow to miss. Maria asks Anita to help her to getaway with Tony, but the anger and misunderstanding are interwoven clouding the souls of these characters... and when the two lovers see each other again, a tragic event will mark their destiny.

  3. Characters The characters are: Bernardo, Pepe, Chino, Ice, Riff, Anybodies, Baby John, Policeman, Tony, Maria, Anita, Master of Ceremonies, Velma, Consuelo, Maria’sfatherAnd Doc. Riff, Tony, Baby John, Velma, Anybodies are the Jets. Bernardo, Chino, Pepe, Maria, Anita and Consuelo are the Sharks.

  4. Bernardo: He is the Sharks’s boss and he isalsoMaria’sbrother. He isveryjealous and selfish. Chino and Pepe are his friends.

  5. Maria: Sheis part of Sharks. SheisBernardo’ssister and sheis in love with Tony, for this love her goes against her family. She is beautiful and humble. Consuelo and Anita are her friends.

  6. Tony: He is part of Jets. He is in love with Maria, but his love is contrasted. He isvery beautiful. Riff ishis friend and hehelpshimto make his engagement with Maria.

  7. Anita: SheisMaria’s best friend butsheisalsoBernardo’s girl friend. Sheisvery sensitive. Sheis part of Sharks.
