  5. SOAM MIB Status • Work first focused on the goals of the project • Initial MIBs were submitted by Brian Hedstrom of CableLabs • The Textual Conventions MIB (ETH-SERVICE-OAM-TC-MIB) • The SOAM FM MIB (ETH-SERVICE-OAM-FM-MIB) • The SOAM PM MIB (ETH-SERVICE-OAM-PM-MIB)

  6. SOAM MIB Status • 11 Revisions of the TC MIB were made during the quarter • 16 Revisions of the FM MIB were made during the quarter • 4 Revisions of the PM MIB were made during the quarter • Initial text of the Service OAM MIB has been completed and submitted as contribution 33104_001

  7. SOAM MIB Status • Baseline documents used to create the MIBs: • IEEE 802.1ag CFM MIB • MEF 7.1 EMS-NMS Information Model) • MEF 17 (SOAM Requirements & Framework) • MEF 10.2 (Ethernet Service Attributes) • MEF SOAM-FM draft spec • MEF SOAM-PM draft spec • ITU-T Y.1731 (OAM functions and mechanisms) • ITU-T Q.840.1 (NMS-EMS management interface)

  8. SOAM MIB Status • The TC (Textual Convention) and FM (Fault Management) MIB modules were discussed and updated • The preliminary SOAM MIB document has been created and is ready to be reviewed. • There was not enough time to finish the PM (Performance Monitoring) MIB during the quarter and will be reviewed during next quarter • The stretch goal of reviewing the YANG model was not done during the quarter

  9. SOAM MIB Status • Open Items to work on during the next quarter: • Review the SOAM PM MIB • Review and resolve comments from the Straw Ballot (if the motion is passed) • Looking for feedback on SNMP Notifications • Review, update, and incorporate comments into the Service OAM MIB document • Need to coordinate with other ongoing work such as Availability work (MEF 10.2.1), Hybrid NID, etc. • Other work status will not slow down progress of this project • Review YANG Model

  10. SOAM MIB Document Structure • The SOAM MIB Project team proposes to split the MIBs into two separate documents • SOAM TC and FM MIB • SOAM PM MIB • This aligns well with the SOAM FM and PM IA documents being separate • TC and FM MIBs could Letter Ballot well before PM MIB thus providing Service Providers with FM MIB implementations much earlier • Is there any disagreement to this approach?

  11. SOAM MIB Status - Timeline • 1Q-Present 2010: Project Launch • Numerous calls were held and a draft FM document has been created • 2Q 2010: Move FM for SB • Conference calls between 2Q-3Q resolve all straw ballot comments • Review SOAM PM MIB • Produce SOAM PM MIB draft document • 3Q 2010: Move FM for LB; PM for SB • 4Q 2010: Move PM for LB
