  2. Welcome Dear Student: Welcome to the Leadership in Medical Imaging Program at Morehead State University. I am pleased that you have selected our program to further your education in Imaging Sciences. I hope this will provide some useful information about the LMI program. Additional information may be found on our website at www.moreheadstate.edu and in Morehead State University’s Undergraduate Catalog. I encourage you to read this carefully and to clarify any questions you may have, as this information is important to your success at Morehead State University. All students are responsible for reading and adhering to the program admissions, application and curriculum/degree requirements as provided in this document.   3. Program Description • The Bachelor of Imaging Sciences - Leadership in Medical Imaging is an online degree available to registered practitioners in therapeutic and imaging sciences. This part-time program is planned for the working practitioner who wants to pursue a leadership role in imaging sciences. • Following program admission, the student should contact their assigned advisor.

  5. Admission Criteria • A. Unconditional acceptance to Morehead State University through Enrollment. Enrollment Services may be contacted at 606-783-2000, 1-800-585-6781, or www.moreheadstate.edu/admissions. • B. Graduate of a programmatic accredited program (radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance, diagnostic medical sonography, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy). Non-programmatic accredited programs will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Completion of the following 15 credit hours of pre-requisite courses: • CIS 101 - Computers for Learning - 3 credit hours • CMSP 108 - Fundamentals of Speech Communication – 3 credit hours • ENG 100 - Writing I - 3 credit hours • ENG 200 - Writing II - 3 credit hours • MATH 131 or Higher - Mathematical Reasoning and Problem Solving - 3 credit hours

  7. Admission Criteria Continued.. • D. Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on all course work required for admission to the program. • E. Registered and in good standing by a respective certification agency, for example American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

  8. Application Procedure • Applications will be accepted beginning in January for the fall semester and must be received by the 4th Monday in March. Applications will be accepted beginningin August for the spring semester and must be received by the4th Monday in October. Late applications may be considered until the class is filled.

Department of Imaging Sciences BSIS Admission Application designating the Leadership in Medical Imaging online program. 2. Official transcripts documenting all courses required for admission.

Copy of current certification card, for example American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

  12. Application Times • Application for admission into the BSIS-Leadership in Medical Imaging online program is made in the spring semester prior to fall classes and in the fall semester prior to spring classes.

  15. What are the requirements for the BSIS degree?

Degree Requirements • The BSIS (LMI) degree requires a total 129 credit hours. • 43 hours must be at the 300 level or above. • This means 7 additional hours are needed beyond those obtained by completing the LMI courses. • These hours are obtained form the following areas: • General Education Requirements • Imaging Discipline • Required Core

  21. Imaging Discipline • Applicants may receive transfer credit for courses completed during their professional curriculum in an accredited program. • The number of hours that are transferable to MSU will vary with different programs. • Each applicant will be reviewed on an individual basis.

  33. Student’s Ability to “Evaluate Their Program Standing” • Students can review their academic progress and determine what courses they are lacking toward the degree by following these steps: • 1. Log on to your Datatel Web Account. • 2. Click on “Program Evaluation”. • 3. Choose “one active program” and click “Leadership in Medical Imaging”. • 4. A question at the bottom requires you to answer “What work do you want to include?” • Select “R – Registered/pre-registered”. • 5. Click on Submit.

  34. What does a student have to do to maintain “good standing” in the program?

  35. Academic Policy A. Academic Standards PURPOSE: To outline the academic standards for the department. The student will: 1. Achieve a minimum grade of “C” in all core (LMI) courses. 2. Achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 by the completion of the program.

  36. Academic Policy Continued.. B. Standards for Progression PURPOSE: To outline standards for progression in the department. 1. The student will achieve a minimum grade of “C” in all core (LMI) courses. 2. If the student does not meet requirement #1, he/she will be permitted to progress in the program courses, but must repeat the course to remove the deficiency to meet degree requirements.   3. The student will adhere to the following guidelines with respect to deficiencies: a. A program course may only be taken twice to earn the required grade of “C”. b. A maximum of two program courses may be repeated. 4. The BSIS student must provide documentation of current certification in one of the Imaging Sciences disciplines.

  38. Applying for Graduation Requirement • An Application for Degree form must be submitted to the MSU Registrar's office at least one semester before degree requirements are completed. The form is available from the Registrar (201 Ginger Hall) and should be submitted in January prior to graduation. A list of degree candidates is posted outside the MSU Registrar's office at least two weeks prior to the end of each term. (For further details see the university catalog). Graduates may go through the May Commencement ceremony prior to their completion of the program
