  3. What ocean zones are visible in this picture?

Tides • On the first night I was there, I noticed a huge difference between high and low tide. • When I was going to take a picture of this huge difference on my last day in FL, I could barely tell a difference between high and low tide. • What kind of monthly tide cycle must have been taking place on day one? • What about the last day? How do you think the sun and moon were aligned when I left? • What causes the tides?

  5. Tide Pools and Winds • What do organisms living in these tide pools need to be able to tolerate? • While playing on the beach what type of local wind do you think the people would feel during this time of day?

  11. Clawed Creature • What kind of animal do you think each set of claws belong to? • What kind of sea organism are both of these?

Man o’ War Facts • These creatures are actually a type of organism called a siphonophore, which is four separate organisms that live together to support life for each other. • These four organisms are the bladder, the tentacles, digestive polyps, and reproductive polyps (multicellular organism).

  17. Sand Dollar • Food is moved by tiny cilia to the mouth. • If you watch it, you can see it “walking” on its tiny tube feet. • Sometimes they can be seen in groups of thousands tilted on their sides waiting for food.
