Sharing responsibility

Sharing responsibility. Sharing responsibility. Sharing responsibility. I will share the responsibility of my church by praying for its growth, by inviting the un-churched to attend, by warmly welcoming those who visit, and by seeking to make disciples of all nations.

  1. Sharing responsibility

  2. Sharing responsibility

  3. Sharing responsibility • I will share the responsibility of my church by praying for its growth, by inviting the un-churched to attend, by warmly welcoming those who visit, and by seeking to make disciples of all nations. • Colossians 4:2-6; John 20:21; 1 Peter 2:12; Matthew: 28:18-20

  4. Sharing responsibility • Colossians 4:2-6 (NIV) 2Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. 4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

  5. Sharing responsibility • John 20:21 (NIV) 21 Again Jesus said,  “Peace be with you!  As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

  6. Sharing responsibility • 1 Peter 2:12 (NIV) 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. • Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV) 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  10. Conclusion • Our responsibility lies in working for the Lord, whether it is in “looking after orphans or widows in distress” (James 1:27), giving to the hungry, the naked, visiting those in prison (Matthew 25:35-36), serving in our workplace (Colossians 3:22), or doing whatever we do (Colossians 3:23). • Our motivation is that we have God’s own promise that our work “is not in vain” in the Lord “since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:24). • “Always giving ourselves full to the work of the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
