  2. Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press with replaceable/moveable wooden or metal letters in 1436 (completed by 1440). • The 1811 model of the printing press is on display in the Deutsches Museum in Munich, Germany.

  3. Printing Press & Movable Type The printing press allowed for easier, and quicker production of printed materials, mainly books. Once you had a page laid-out to print, many copies of that page were made before resetting the press for the next page.

  4. Effects of movable type: *Poor people could afford books *Making books was faster – they no longer had to be written by hand *Made it easier to educate people *Communication changed forever
