Measuring populations . Dele,phap,achj. Direct observation . Definition: counting it one by one I looked at my garden, and counted all the flowers. Indirect Observation. Definition : Take one thing and another and see how many can fit in it then multiply by how many you see.

  2. Direct observation • Definition: counting it one by one • I looked at my garden, and counted all the flowers.

  3. Indirect Observation • Definition: Take one thing and another and see how many can fit in it then multiply by how many you see. • Three jars and each can fit 21 fireflies there are 63 fireflies all together.

  4. Sampling • Definition: Look at it estimate then multiply it with a larger area. • I count 20 flowers to make one square in my garden, four parts. How many flowers? About 80.

  5. Mark and Recapture • Definition: Another way of estimating and you mark what you already counted. • I look at my garden and peel a petal off each one I counted so I don’t get it mixed up as a new one grows.
