  1. USG - 1823 Drinking Water Treatment System for high turbid water source

  2. The compact water supply system is designed for heavy-duty tasks to supply safe drinking water. Water source: Surface water, rivers, lakes Treated water: Safe drinking water, WHO standard Operation: Fully – Automatic Turbidity range: High range Main Features: A compact mobile water treatment system for surface water, rivers, lakes or shallow wells water designed to treat high turbidity water of any range. The systems provide safe potable drinking water that adheres to the WHO standards. The systems are specially designed for difficult field situations. The systems are easy to operate and maintain and delivered ready for on-site immediate operation. The system is installed inside containers.

  3. Advantages:  Economical- Each system is designed specifically under consideration of customer needs and budget.  Automatic– Each system is fully automatic and all operating modes controlled by Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).  Easy to operate– The system is robust, reliable, user friendly system designed to be operated in remote areas where skilled operators, technicians, and spare parts are not readily available.  Plug n' Play– Each system is assembled and tested in the factory prior to shipment. The system is ready to operate as it leaves the factory and minimal on-site assembly is needed.

  4. Applications  Small and medium size communities and municipalities.  Small and medium military bases.  Emergency relief organizations.  Remote and rural areas.

  5. Technical Description: The systems designed to supply high quality and safe drinking water from different water sources. The system is able to treat water with a variable and broad range of suspended solids and very high turbidity, in order to produce safe and quality drinking water having an effluent quality assurance that meets international and local drinking water standards. The systems will be installed nearby the water source (river, lake etc) from which the raw water will be pumped directly to treatment plant by a submersible pump. The system is completely automatic, equipped with a robust control panel including the start/stop switches and all the controls and metering devices, being highly reliable and easy to operate, and ready for on-site operation.

  6. These packaged units are based on standard and customized improved design criteria. Cost saving technology, simplicity and reliability of performance are among its main characteristics. The compact and modular concept used in pre-fabricated units ensures standardization, high quality assembly and installation, complete quality control, full testing program, on-time delivery, convenient transportation and minimal on-site assembly and installation works. * For Illustration purposes only

  7. Process Description The process integrates elements of coagulation, sedimentation, slow filtration using multi media filters, activated carbon filtration and disinfection. Raw water is introduced into the system and is dosed with coagulant – Alum Sulfate. The dosed water flows through an inline static mixer into the clarifier tank for sedimentation to remove suspended solids. The clarified water flows into an intermediate tank. The following step is slow filtration and polish using multi media filters; and the absorption of organic matter in the water by activated carbon filters.

  8. The multi media filters as well as the activated carbon filters perform automatic backwash. All necessary pipes, valves, manometers and controls are also supplied. Prior to distribution, treated water is finally disinfected by hypochlorite solution.

  9. Treatment Stages The treatment process is composed of the following treatment stages: Water Inlet: The raw water is delivered to the system at design flow rate. Coagulation Unit: Alum Sulfate solution is being dosed to the raw water inlet pipeline, before the clarifier. Clarification Device: The Clarifier is an automatic hydraulic device, specially designed to accelerate reactions through methodical recirculation of the precipitates formed by the flocculent and influent water. The Clarifier has no moving parts and it operates continuously, to provide the required effluent water quality.

  10. The conical floor of the unit helps the sludge slide toward the ejector for recirculation. Concentrated sludge is collected at the bottom hopper and is periodically manually released to drain. The effluent flows over the truncated conical collector into the intermediate tank for further treatment. Filtration Unit: The water from the intermediate tank is pumped to deep bed multi media filters. The multi media filters use crushed basalt and quartz sand as filtering media, designed to remove suspended organic matter and inorganic particles from the water. The multi media filters use a unique design of a double chamber separated by a welded reinforced steel plate. The upper chamber contains of filtering media and the lower chamber is empty and collects the filtered water. The plate is covered by filtration diffusers which are plastic, slotted conical units that enable uniform dispersion of water and ensure an effective wash of the whole media volume, avoiding the phenomenon of “channeling”.

  11. During filtration mode raw water enters the filters through valves which are open to raw water and are closed to backwash outlet. Filtered water flows out of the filters into granular activated carbon filter. Filters Flushing: Backwash of each of the multi media filters is carried out subsequently for 5 minutes. The system uses filtered water from one filter that is not being backwashed to flush the other filter. Backwash process is involving a reversal flow of the water and causing a turbulent expansion of the media, which flushes out the entrapped debris effectively. During backwash, water for backwash enters to the filter that is backwashed through the outlet manifold. Filter's inlet valve is open to drain. The backwash process starts automatically by pressing a push button located on the control board.

  12. Activated carbon filtration: The filtered water from multi media filters flows into ODIS deep bed media filter which uses granular activated carbon, to remove the residues of the chlorine, dissolved organic matters, traces of certain heavy metals and fine particles. The activated carbon improves the taste and odor of the treated water. Filter Flushing: Backwash of the activated carbon filter is carried out for 5 minutes. The system uses filtered water from the multi media filters in order to flush the activated carbon filter. Backwash process is involving a reversal flow of the water and causing a turbulent expansion of the media, which flushes out the entrapped debris effectively. During backwash, water for backwash enters to the filter through valve and outlet manifold. Filter's inlet valve is open to drain

  13. Disinfection Unit: The On-Site Chlorine generator creates sodium hypochlorite solution for water disinfection out of fresh water and salt by simply mixing the salt in the water inside the preparation tank. Using The On-Site Chlorine generator will eliminate the dependence of chlorine supply to the site, which is costly, hazardous and not always available. On site laboratory - optional: Compact and easy to operate water testing kit, which enables to assure safety of treated water, on-site. The kit is reliable and used in many of water treatment plants worldwide. The testing kit can be operated by anyone, with no special pre-knowledge required. It is perfect for mobile and remote treatment plants where no nearby laboratories are found.
