  4. Our Customer’s Challenges… • Responding to market dynamics • Driving higher levels of quality/consistency • Managing compliance & regulation • Coordinating with suppliers & vendors • Reducing operating costs • Managing global operations • Increasing operational excellence Global pressure to improve safety, compliance, quality, productivity and cost are forcing companies to evaluate and improve their business processes.

  5. What is ArchestrA Workflow Software? • ArchestrA Workflow Software is an application that enables companies to automate processes that include people, operational, and business systems. • ArchestrA Workflow Software enables companies to Model, Execute, Analyze and Improve work processes to drive higher levels of collaboration, productivity, and innovation.

  6. Example BPM Scenario… BPM Maintenance event occurs at shop-floor Event automatically captured and context prepared Workflow Initiated Communication with context sent to Maintenance Maintenance notified ( SMS, Email ) Supervisor notified ( SMS, Email ) Communication shared with Supervisor Maintenance performs inspection and submits report Decision to HOLD production Concurrent communication with Production Scheduler & EAM Application N Y Production continues Maintenance order created in EAM app. Scheduler updates production schedule Maintenance Tech. receives maintenance order on mobile device Communication with Maintenance Tech. Maintenance order closed in EAM app. Concurrent communication with Production Operator & EAM Application Maintenance Tech. completes order Production Operator notified to start production

  7. Management of Change Process • Management of Change is a process for evaluating and controlling modifications to a facility (design, operation, organization, or other activities) prior to implementation • The rationale for MOC is to make certain that new hazards are not being introduced and that safety of employees, the public or the environment is not compromised unknowingly • In the US, OSHA has regulations that govern how changes are to be made and documented. The main requirement is that a thorough review of a proposed change be performed by a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that as many possible viewpoints are used to minimize the chances of missing a hazard.

  8. Changes (examples) • Process Equipment • Process Control • Safety Systems • Site Infrastructure • Operations & Technology • Preventive Maintenance • Procedures • Material Inspections • Staff

  9. What are Production/Manufacturing Business Processes? • Generic definition of a process… • A process is a series of steps or tasks aimed at accomplishing a defined, business objective In Production environments, most processes are… • Embedded in commercial and custom applications, and • People-driven processes that are required to fill the “white space” between the existing applications

  10. What are Production/Manufacturing Business Processes? • In Production environments, a process could be… • Releasing a new recipe to the plant floor • Approving the release of a new product • Starting-up or shutting-down a production process • Resolving a quality issue within a production process • Responding to an emergency maintenance request • Staging raw materials in a production area • Responding to an adverse alarm condition • Collecting environmental data • Etc.
