  3. Surrealism Surrealist works feature the element of surprise. They are sometimes paintings of things that we know do not exist in real life, or they show situations that could not possibly happen. Sometimes, they are scenes from a dream that an artist may have had. Can you think of any surrealist art? Persistence of Memory by Salvadore Dali

  4. Giacometti He liked to create sculptures that imitated human poses. He thought of his figure sculptures as the shadow cast by a person.

  6. Human Body Proportions The human body is as tall as 8 heads stacked on top of one another The neck, chest, stomach and hips are three heads high. The thighs and calves are four heads high Notice that the arms stretch down to the thighs (about 3.5 heads high)

  7. Our Assignment Create the human figure out of pipe cleaner that stands on a cardboard base. The figure should be in an interesting pose that could be recognized as the figure doing something.

  8. Tips on how to start The head of the figure must be 1 inch, which means that the entire figure must be 8 inches tall. Follow the proportion guidelines USE YOUR RULER!
