  1. Proverbs3:1-8 Is it the restaurant’s fault for serving hot coffee? Whose fault was it?

  2. Given any sizable group, you are bound to find problems and sins cropping up Is it the group’s fault or the fact that “people sin?” Yet, there is a tendency to lump the blame against the group instead of noting that we may have a problem with an individual

  3. Do you find hypocrites in other groups as well? Do you only find mistreatment of other people in a church or does a business have to deal with rotten employees also? Are there only cliques in a congregation or do the local atheists also have their share? There Are Hypocrites In The Church

  4. Not A Justification For Sin Or A Call To Accept Sin Merely being logical that in a group, there will be sinners – 1 Corinthians 11:18,19 “For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19 For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you.” Even as we strive to avoid sin, we all fall prey to it at times – 1 John 1:8,10 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”

  5. BLAMING GOD • They blame following God for their woes! • Was it the individual or God who chose to end the marriage? • Is it not God who says He hates divorce? Malachi 2:16 • Is it because God encouraged it or because he is being disobedient to God?

  6. BLAMING GOD • Why blame God for man’s disobedience? - James 1:13 • When a loved one dies, is it God’s fault? – Genesis 2:16,17 • Do we forget that the tree of life was in the garden & Adam & Eve could eat of it prior to their sin? • When a child is abused or killed, do we blame God for not stopping it? – Matthew 18:6,7 • It isn’t God’s fault that people disobey – Ezekiel 18:20

  7. BLAMING THE CHURCH • Pretty much guarantee someone in the church will annoy me, insult me, or do me wrong • Does this make it the church’s fault? • The church teaches we are to love each other – John 13:35 • Strive to get along – Ephesians 4:31,32 • Disagreement is due to violating what the church teaches • But people leave churches, blaming the church rather than dealing with problem individuals

  8. BLAMING RELIGION • Child molester found in some religiously conservative group • Author blamed all so-called conservative Christian religions • Fact: there are child molesters found in any sufficiently large group • No evidence given that it is more prevalent in any one particular group • Child molestation is horrible

  9. BLAMING RELIGION • Claim made that religion is unable to deal with sexual sins • Sexual sins are sins – church’s mission is change the world and remove sin • Claim is that sexual offenders can’t change • The Bible states this is false – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 • Becoming a Christian is about radical change of people – 2 Corinthians 7:10,11

  10. Do we accept the wisdom of this world over the wisdom of God? • 1 Corinthians 3:19,20 • But should the blame be on the religion that teaches against sin, or on the sinner who violates that teaching? • We can’t be lax, thinking sins can never occur here – 1 Corinthians 10:12 • We can’t abandon God’s ways of dealing with problems by blaming the wrong thing – Proverbs 3:5-7
