  2. Tropical Rain Forest • Temperature: 68oF - 93oF • Rainfall: Up to 158 inches per year! • Animals: Insects, Birds, Monkeys, Wild Cats • Plants: Ferns, Canopy Trees, Vines • The rain forest has the greatest diversity of life!

  3. Coniferous Forest • Temperature: 14oF - 52oF • Rainfall: Up to 30 inches per year • Animals: Hibernate and Migrate (Deer, Moose, Squirrels, Lynx) • Plants: Evergreens (needle-like) • Long cold winters

  4. Deciduous Forest • Temperature: 43oF - 82oF • Rainfall: Up to 50 inches per year • Animals: Birds, Rabbits, Foxes • Plants: Trees that loose leaves, moss, grasses • We live here! Fall colors!

  5. Grassland • Temperature: 32oF - 86oF • Rainfall: Up to 30 inches per year • Animals: Prairie dogs, mice, bison, elephants, zebras, gazelles. • Plants: Grasses and seed-bearing plants • Can be called the steppe, savanna, prairie or pampas depending on where you live! • Very good soil!

  6. Desert • Temperature: 45oF - 100oF • Rainfall: Less than 10 inches per year • Animals: Kangaroo rats, jack rabbits, lizards • Plants: Plants with roots close to the surface of the ground. • In animals and plants, water storage is the goal!

  7. Tundra • Temperature: -14oF - 53oF • Rainfall: Less than 20 inches per year • Animals: Caribou, oxen, wolves, lemming. • Plants: Lichen, shrubs • Has permafrost, soggy soil, lakes and ponds.

  13. Marsh Plants, no trees

  14. Swamp Plants AND trees

  15. Estruary • Where fresh water meets salt water

  16. Moving Water • Ponds • Lakes • Rivers
