  1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians:The Last Olympian Author: Rick Riordan Report By: Nadim Amin

  2. Meet the Author • Taught English and History at public and private schools • Awarded the schools first Master Teacher Award by Saint Mary’s Hall • Wrote The Lighting Thief as a bedtime story for his oldest son originally • Lives in San Antonio with his wife and two sons • Sells his books in over 35 countries

  3. Setting • Set in the present • Takes place in mainly Manhattan, New York City, and Mount Olympus • Has a few scenes in Connecticut, Camp Half-Blood, the Underworld, the Princess Andromeda, Poseidon's Kingdom, and a few areas in the USA

  4. Characters • Percy Jackson- the only known son of Poseidon and the main hero whose choice decides the fate of the gods • Luke Callestan- son of Hermes and Kronos’s right hand man, becoming as invincible as Achilles is able to be possessed by Kronos, holding his form while he completely reforms • Annabeth Chase- daughter of Athena and one of Percy’s first friends at camp. She is like the link between Percy and Luke, and a soft spot for both of them

  5. Plot • Percy’s ends when he and Beckendorf, a son of Hephaestus, have blow up the Princess Andromeda, in which Beckendorf sacrifices his life, and Percy learns of Luke’s invincibility • Percy lands in Poseidon’s Kingdom where Poseidon was found in his sorry state • The Great Prophecy is revealed, showing a sorry fate for the hero of the prophecy who is thought to be Percy • Percy travels with Nico and Ms. O’ Leary to the underworld where Percy bathes in the river Styx, becoming invincible • Calling the campers, Percy and the other half-bloods prepare for war joined by Grover and his nature army, Chiron and the party ponies, and Thalia and the Hunters • Halfway through the campers receive Pandora’s Pithos, filled with hope, from Prometheus • Selena gets the Ares campers to join the fight, where she dies fighting the drakon • Then the final battle takes place up in Olympus, where Luke gains control of his body and kills himself with the knife he gave to Annabeth • The gods award their gifts to the heroes, where Grover takes Pan’s place as Lord of the Wild, and Percy makes the gods swear to give recognition to the minor gods and to claim all their children by at least the age of thirteen. • Everyone returns to camp to finish the last burnings and to celebrate the winning of the war, where Annabeth and Percy kiss

  6. Conflict/Resolution • Percy vs. Luke >becoming enemies at Luke betrayal, hatred also formed in Percy as how Luke is constantly fooling Annabeth, who won’t give up on him • Luke vs. the Gods >feeling betrayed by his dad, Hermes, he sets out to destroy the gods rule • Resolutions >Percy finally beats Luke, finally understanding what he went through to be caused to do this, entrusting him with the fate of the war >Luke forgives his dad and makes Percy promise not to let the same thing to happen to any other half-blood, killing himself to save the gods

  7. Theme • Neglection is wrong is say would be the best theme >the disregarding of a person could lead to a lot more trouble for you than them • This goes best with the story because the whole war started over one kid’s neglection by his dad, to a massive army of them fighting to get their regonition

  8. Personal Book Review I really enjoyed the book, it was action pack and fast-paced. The Last Olympian was a amazing final to the series. Book involved the really world as it is which made it the all more fun to read, because it was placed in actual places. It also had well researched Greek mythology concepts. It was an overall success. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoy any of the previous books or mythology stories.
