They are informed about all the possibilities within the Spanish educational system for them to make a decision. • In this process the following are involved: - students - parents - tutors - Psycho pedagogue of our school (his job is to coordinate and advise everybody )

  8. ACTIVITIES in ESO 4 • Meeting at the beginning of the year to inform parents • One hour weekly during the year to discuss different matters regarding their future studies. • 30 hour optional subject “Entrance the World of Work” • Personal interview with each student and parents where the Holland questionnaire is analyzed, also their academic performance, expectations and other aspects which can serve as orientation. • All records regarding orientation as well as the final decision of the students are delivered to all the teachers and board of directors. • School is also responsible to take students to: • Educational and Vocational Fair where they can get direct information from all schools and universities (State and Private). 11. BATX 2 UPPER LEVEL STUDIES GUIDANCE The aim is basically to give information. The tutor and coordinator inform them about - University Studies - Upper Grade Vocational Training - Open-door day at Universities Our psycho pedagogue sees about any request related to the possibilities of changing from one branch to another, or about leaving batxillerat to do Intermediate Vocational Training. Our students can get this information via internet with support paper.

  12. RESULTS BTX 2

  13. TO ENTER UNIVERSITY • To enter university, students must sit for an entrance examination. All Catalan students take the exams the same 3 days in June and same test order. • The final mark is the result of an average between the Batxillerat (60%) and the university exam (40%) provided that students get 4 out of 10 in their university exam. • On top of it, each Faculty has its own “minimum mark”, it depends on the demand. For example, to enter the Faculty of Medicine or Journalism students have to get a high mark, while to enter Physics or some kind of Engineering as well as most Humanities Faculties a “5” is enough.

  14. UNIVERSITIES IN BARCELONA Barcelona has four public universities and some private. Public universities are: - Universitat de Barcelona (UB). www.ub.es - Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). www.uab.es - Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). www.upf.edu - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. www.upc.es Usually our students enter one of these four universities. If they have not got enough mark they can enter other universities in Catalonia (Tarragona –URV-, Lleida –UdL-, Girona –UdG-).

  15. GRANTS • In contrast to secondary studies, which are free of charge in public schools, university is not. • The cost (this year 08-09, is of €10,60 to €15,40€ per credit) it depends on the experimental activities involved in the studies. • A full year costs between €700 and €1200. • Students can get information on grants or loans in a specific web site (Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca): http://www10.gencat.cat/agaur_web/AppJava/catala/a_beques.jsp?categoria=universitaris • They can also find this information on the Spanish Ministry for Education: http://www.mepsyd.es/educacion.html

  16. STUDIES IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES Our students do not have in mind to study in a foreign country; however they are very much interested in getting in an ERASMUS programme.

  17. FOREIGN STUDENTS IN CATALONIA • Catalan universities receive more and more foreign students every year, particularly from EU countries. • These students can get information on the web site. “Study at Catalan universities” http://www10.gencat.net/dursi_estudiaracatalunya/AppJava/ca/index.jsp • All university web sites inform about studies, language classes, grants and accommodation (all are shown in English)
