  1. Have your binder.Have a piece of loose leaf paper.Have a pen or pencil. Be in your seat when the bell rings!

  2. Title • Date • U1-6

  3. OHEC = • Observation • Hypothesis • Experiment • Conclude Let’s Break it down!

  4. See something odd. Observation

  5. Make an If…then… statement. Hypothesis

  6. You must identify and control the variables. • If…I.V.…then…D.V.… • Independent variable - Cause • Dependent variable - Effect • You need two groups to compare results. • Control Group – does not get the I.V. • Experimental Group – gets the I.V. • Collect some data. Experiment

  7. The only thing different between the control group and the experimental group should be the independent variable. • Use a large sample to get better results. Control the Variables

  8. Line Graphs = Change over time. • Bar Graphs = Different Groups. Which one is best?

  9. Look at the data to see if your hypothesis was correct. • Write about it. • Identify errors in controlling the variables. Conclusion

  10. Observation • Some students do better on tests than others. • Hypothesis • If______________________________then ___________________________________. • Experiment • Control – • ______________________________ • Experimental – • ______________________________ Example

  11. Where does the Data go? Example

  12. Data • Conclusion? What do you think the data says? Example

  13. Data • Inquire Further: Example
