  2. Theatre Arts I - For students wanting to explore theatre. It introduces theatre vocabulary and processes as well as reading and writing of theatre literature, acting and technical theatre. This course develops creativity and spontaneity. GENERAL THEATRE COURSES OFFERED: Theatre Arts II - For students who wish to continue their exploration of theatre . It expands knowledge of theatre vocabulary, reading and writing theatre literature, acting, and technical theatre. It also allows students to explore theatre through informal and formal productions.

  3. Acting Ensemble – For students who wish to continue to study and develop their knowledge of theatre, this course incorporates intensive work on character development, voice and other presentation skills. Study at this level places emphasis on the execution of skills, ensemble work, and collaboration with other student artists. Students will participate in formal and informal productions at least once per year. THIS COURSE MAY BE REPEATED FOR CREDIT. MAGNET ACTING COURSES OFFERED:

  4. Acting – For students who wish to continue developing acting technique and creativity through exploration of classical and contemporary scripted material. Acting skills and character development are emphasized. Theatre study at this level develops self- discipline, analysis of the theatre process and personal artistic choices. Students will participate in formal and informal productions at least once per semester. THIS COURSE MAY BE REPEATED FOR CREDIT. MAGNET ACTING COURSES OFFERED:

  5. MAGNET ACTING COURSES OFFERED: Advanced Acting – For advanced students, focusing on forming and applying personal performance goals. It encourages development of the student within the ensemble as a growing artist. The focus is on individual and ensemble performance. Students will participate in auditions, productions, competitions and adjudications throughout the school year. THIS COURSE MAY BE REPEATED FOR CREDIT.

  6. ACTING SEQUENCE: Theatre Arts I Theatre Arts II Acting Ensemble I, II, III & IV Acting Advanced Acting Audition-Based Placement Available ACTING COURSE SEQUENCE:

  7. Technical Theatre – For students who wish to explore theatre from a backstage perspective. Topics include scenery construction & painting, rigging, props, lighting, sound and scene shop safety. For more advanced students, knowledge is applied within the collaborative process of the production environment. Leadership in production positions is encouraged. THIS COURSE MAY BE REPEATED FOR CREDIT. TECHNICAL THEATRE COURSES:

  8. TECHNICAL THEATRE COURSES: Lighting & Sound Fundamentals – For students interested in specific instruction in the basic elements, technology and skills for lighting and sound. A semester study of the use and an operation of lighting instruments, microphones, mixers, lighting and sound boards for production.

  9. Elements of Design – For students interested in theatre concept and design. Students learn to communicate ideas through sketches, renderings and drafts. A semester study of color theory, effects of lighting and fabrics, design research, scene painting and application to theatre, dance, film and video. Students will collaborate to create designs in lighting, sound, scenery or costumes. TECHNICAL THEATRE COURSES:

  10. TECHNICAL THEATRE COURSES: Stage Management I – For students interested in acquiring knowledge of the stage manager’s role in the production process. Focus is on production organization, safety and assisting crews or actors during rehearsals and performances.

  11. TECHNICAL THEATRE COURSES: Stage Management II – For advanced students, focus is on the stage manager’s role in the production process. It develops knowledge of production organization, scheduling, budgeting, safety, the supervision of crews or actors and the running of rehearsals and performances..

  12. TECHNICAL COURSE SEQUENCE: TECHNICAL SEQUENCE: Theatre Arts I or SIA Technical Theatre I, II, III & IV Fundamentals/Elements Stage Management I Stage Management II Recommendation-Based Placement Available
