  6. ARCS • Four Big Ideas of good design are: • Alignment • Repetition • Contrast • Spacing

  7. Alignment • Every element on a page should line up with something else • How? Using a grid. • Why? It’s like invisible glue. It gives unity.

  9. Repetition • Creates Consistency • How? Swatches of Color, Style Sheet • What? Lines, Colors, Columns, Type, Ideas

  10. Contrast • If two items are different, make them VERY different. • How? Size, color, type styles • Why? It grabs attention. • “Don’t be a wimp about Contrast.” -- Robin Williams

  11. Spacing • If two items are close, they look related. If the are spaced out, they look unrelated. • How? Using a grid. • Why? To create groupings of information, give readers a guide
