Purpose • To help capitalize on our Towering Infernos, 10.5 earthquakes & The Day After Tomorrows • What do you do when Godzilla Attacks?! • For DHS/FEMA: • Provide annotated listing of disaster film • Provide DVD of mitigation related clips • For You: • Provide materials and resources to reinforce, explain, show….and entertain

Methodology • Well, I’ll be watching a lot disaster movies • Blockbuster or Bust! • Developing a list of disaster film/videos with brief descriptions and citation information • Use the list to find an appropriate clip to examine a concept • Recommend sources for acquiring film • Internet, movie store, ILL

  5. Feature Film: Volcano Deep Impact Volcano Towering Inferno Documentaries PBS Series The Learning Channel The Discovery Channel FEMA/DHS Videos Mitigation videos Non-profit Films Approximately 60 in all Movies to be included

  6. Use of List… • In a class • Whole film or segment for emphasis or concept • As a course in and of itself • UNT Approach • Images of Natural and Technological Disaster in Film and Media
