  1. Inspired by reality... New Life… It only takes a crack of colour to start a new life… By Aayushi

  2. Published in 2012 By Lowther Hall A.G.S 17 Leslie Rd, Essendon, 3040, Victoria, Australia 2012 Aayushi Khillan

  3. Dedicated to: My family who have loved me every minute of my life...

  4. As dad turned back to get my suitcase, he looked sad, but was it tears or rain on his cheek, I wasn‘t sure...

  5. Sometimes things don't go your way, but in life all you can do is accept it...

  6. 2 years later… 2 Years later A tear drips out of my eye as I clutch the photo tight. This is all I have left of them,I think. All that is with me and all that will be with me till the very end.   A tear drips out of my eye as I clutch the photo tight. 'This is all I have left of them', I think. All that is with me and all that will be with me till the very end.

  7. And maybe crying your sorrow out is all your heart can take...

  8. Day after day the same thing happens. We get up, we get changed, we go to school, we come back from school, we eat dinner and we go to sleep. Life is so boring at "Stockwell Orphanage Care." Now that I am 7, I understand everything and life just doesn't seem to agree with what I want.

  9. Soon days become same as the others, dull...

  10. A letter is hanging on my door with a half broken pin… Dear Orphan, You have been chosen to move to Australia. Please pack all your belongings by 19/3/49 Signed John Will (Orphanage owner)

  11. If you are lucky you might get a second chance at life...

  12. Leaving my families memories, all alone. I rip the letter off my door and rush in. "I will never leave this place what ever they say..."

  13. But accepting that life is hard enough...

  14. I have no choice, they are making me go, I can't escape. So I finally decide that the only option I have... Is to go.

  15. So when you do agree, you realise there might be some hope...

  16. My heart is full of sorrow. I am going to miss England. I don’t know how it is in Australia, I don’t know if it will be any better than England...

  17. But doubt soon overcomes you, and you start to drift away...

  18. Today we are leaving, it is a tremendous journey, over the long and horrid seas. It will take forever to reach. But what can I do, I have no choice. "Bye England, forever..."

  19. And the journey begins...

  20. Author’s Note In the 1930’s and 40’s, children from all around the world were forced to migrate as the country didn’t want them any more. Most of these children were part of the orphanage and were told they didn’t have a family any more. For most kids, this was a lie, there parents were still alive but had left them in the orphanage because they couldn’t cope with their kids. When parents came back to collect their kids, they had already left to migrate. This sorrow moment was shared worldwide and this disaster will always be in the back of everybody's heart.

  21. A new life, found, loved and lived...
