  2. Objectives • Explain what gene frequency is. • Measure gene frequency in a model population. • Make and test predictions about whether and how gene frequency will change. • Define evolution and explain what it has to do with genetics.

  3. Instructions • Groups of two. • One set of data and one graph for each group (make sure both names are on the paper). • One set of questions for each individual. • Questions are due tomorrow. • At the bell: turn in your individual answers to the questions on the board.

  4. In-class Questions Answer these questions before you leave today. The eightquestions in your handout are due tomorrow. • What is gene frequency? • Explain what each component of the lab represented today. What do the beans represent? The dishes? The selection of the beans from the cup? • Define the terms genotype and phenotype. • How does an organism’s genotype affect its survival? • Explain the connection between genetics and evolution.
