Standards of Behaviour in the Training Centre • Smoking in designated areas • Cigarette ends to go into containers • No antisocial behaviour • No bulling • No loitering • No littering • Do not clock-on for others • No wilful damage of property & equipment • Do not remove goods from the centre • Theft = dismissal • Sexual harassment = dismissal • Racism = dismissal • Setting of fire alarms = dismissal • Interfering with fire alarms = dismissal • Close circuit TV in operation • Do not appear in an unfit state = home • No wilful damage of property & equipment = dismissal

  4. Payment of Training Allowance • Clock card – first day • Payment weekly for clocked hours only • Lost or damaged card = €6.00 • First week pay made at end of second week • Payment made to your bank account – pay slip • Bank account details, name, number sort code • Trainees must give ID, Drivers License on first day • Travel allowance if you live more than 3 miles away • Accommodation allowance if you live 16 miles away • You will receive travel or accommodation not both • Sick pay paid with doctors certificate • Sick pay for 3 days in 3 months or 6 days in 6 months • Queries – Services To Business (STB) department

Time Keeping and Attendance • You MUST be on time • Do not clock out early • Queue in an orderly manner Rules: • Clock In late or clock out twice one week = verbal warning • Repetition: Written Disciplinary Review (DR1) • Repetition: Written Disciplinary Review (DR2) • Repetition: Written Disciplinary Review (DR3) and dismissal • Do not leave without notifying instructor, always clock out and in when you return • Failure to notify instructor within 5 working days of absenteeism = dismissal • Absent for 10 days in total = dismissal

Canteen Behaviour • Safety clothing & footwear must be worn • Queue in an orderly manner • Sit in allocated areas only • No smoking • Adhere to canteen timetables • Show courtesy to canteen staff • Purchased goods cannot be exchanged • Return tray and utensils to trolley • Shoplifting = dismissal • CCTV in operation • Sick pay paid with doctors certificate • Place soft drink cans in bins provided

  7. Car Park Behaviour • MAX speed limit – 5MPH • Follow road arrows & signs • Park at rear of building • Park at your own risk • Do not park in Staff Only marked spaces • No sport allowed • Keep car park litter free • Warning stickers will be placed • CCTV in operation

  8. Classroom Behaviour • No smoking • Use of mobile phones prohibited • Keep the classroom tidy • Do not enter other classrooms without permission • Use of personal stereos prohibited • Food & drink is not permitted • Wearing of overalls and boots is not permitted

Workshop Behaviour • No smoking • You MUST wear protective clothing and boots • Use of personal stereos prohibited • Use of mobile phones prohibited • Keep the work area clean & tidy • Do not enter other workshops without permission • Wearing of rings, neckchains etc. is not permitted • Food & drink is not permitted

Computer User Policy • Use computers, professionally, responsibly etc. • Do not expect privacy • Computer system belongs to the ETB • Do not take software to nor remove software from the classroom • DO NOT USE computer resources for any of the following: • Sending, receiving explicit, profane etc. material • Handling or storing commercial or personal advertisements • Do not waste computer resources, i.e. sending mass emails etc. • Using or copying software • Install unauthorised software • Set passwords without permission • Violating any law

  12. Waste Management & Waste Recycling Policy • Soft drink cans • Paper • Cardboard • Metal • Batteries • Rubble – bricks/blocks/mortar • Waste oil • General waste • Timber – nails/screws/removed

Dismissable Offences • Third Disciplinary Review (DR3) • Failure to notify your instructor within 5 working days of absenteeism • Bullying • Clocking on behalf of others • Malicious damage to property & equipment • Setting off the fire alarm maliciously • Interfering with fire fighting equipment • Sexual harassment • Racism • Theft • Unlawful use of the internet

Discriminatory Grounds • Discriminatory is outlawed on 9 grounds = gender – marital status – family statussexual orientation – religious belief – agedisability – race – member of the traveller community • Harassment = repeated or unwanted verbal or physical behaviour • Bullying = dismissal • Sexual harassment = dismissal • Racism = dismissal

Accident Prevention…….continued • Handling Materials • Not what is handled but how it's handled • Walking • Watch your step • Falls • Stack materials in a stable and steady manner • Put tools away • Don't climb • Machinery • Operate and clean using the makers instructions • Check guards • Disconnect the power supply • Handle all cutting parts with care • Ensure floor free from grease and is dry • Concentrate on the job
