  20. Mu Epsilon Chapter Service Project Our chapter is aware of the low literacy rate in our county. We see many children begin school without a good vocabulary or a print knowledge at all. This is always a concern we have as teachers. In cooperation with the Gainesville chapter, Gamma Sigma, we collected bags and books for a project entitled Read to Me! These are bags with a child’s book that are given to each new mother at the local hospital. Canvas bags are purchased from a craft store. Then we write Read to Me on the side of the bag. We meet to write on the bags and fill them with a book. This is a project that has been in place for several years and hopefully will continue to provide literacy support for children in our county. It is great to see those bags around town. We hope those moms see the writing too as a reminder to spend time with their child enjoying books.

  21. The Delta Kappa Gamma Song Women teachers to the calling, Firmly rally, never falling, Duty ne're upon us palling, Staunch, courageous, we! Loyalty and trust e'er heeding, Mindful of our sisters needing Aid and guidance from those leading, Helpful may we be! To Delta Kappa Gamma Faith we pledge forever! Hand in hand, our loyal band, Forward, moving ever! Onward! 'tis our sisters need us, Courage, Faith and Honor lead us! Wrongs in truth and justice heed us! Firmly we shall stand! Guardians of the faith yet sleeping, For our sisters watch e'er keeping, Deeds of others now we're reaping, We for others stand! To us pioneers have given; We return their gifts to Heaven; Work for others is the leaven That inspires our band! Oh, Delta Kappa Gamma In thy fold we gather; Unity and Liberty Shall be our watchwords ever! Education e'er we'll further; Each is bound to each as brother, With this faith in one another, We shall win, for aye!
