  2. Agenda • National Updates and Reminders • Deliverable updates • Mid-term Report Update • Healthy School Hero • New Accounting Forms • Community Breakfast Events • Guest Speaker, Laurie Maeyert from Tracy Area Schools in MN

  3. Contracts and 2014 Deliverables • All contracts should be signed and returned to Regional Managers • Managers sending new tracking logs reflecting new contracts (inclusion of any items owed from 2013 deliverables) • Submit a new 2014 invoice

  4. Contracts and 2014 Deliverables • Deliverables are continuation of many • New or changes include: • Change to Success Story submission-1 Success Story/contract period • HSH Nominations-no requirement to submit; need to promote if selected

SGHK update • Thank you for completing the Midterm Reviews!! • All schools that you recommended to receive 2nd checks will be processed • For those that had concerns: • You should follow up to create new budgets or plans • Goal to get the schools to spend their funds and meet grant deliverables

SGHK update • For those who have not yet completed or finished reports: • An email has been sent to all schools • Extension of a final deadline of January 24, 2014 • Those who do not complete are in violation of our agreement. We can and may request funds to be returned. We WILL block them from being funded by AFHK grants in the future • A final review for these schools will be due 2/5/14

Healthy School Hero • Changes to Healthy School Hero Award Selection Process • Call for nomination period with single yearly announcement (vs. ongoing rolling nominations) • Nomination process will close around end of January • Winners will be notified in February and announced week of April 6 (National Volunteer Week) • Only Healthy School Hero deliverable for SCs this contract period is to promote recognition of any winner in your state

  8. New Accounting Forms • New Accounting Forms to be sent next week • Expense Report Form • Accounting Request Form • Deposit Form • Reminder: please don’t mail cash through the mail. • -Send this form with all checks being sent to Nationals

Community Breakfast Event Update • Note: not all state coordinators have this event in their state, but hopefully the information can be helpful for an EKH Week event idea • MOA Addendum-Addendums will be included in follow up material • Insert your school name into the addendum where highlighted • Save as a PDF and send to the school, cc me • Agreement and check requests are due by January 24, 2014 • Checks will be processed and expedited out to schools • Community Breakfast Event Call on Jan 21, 2014: hosting an orientation/Q and A call for schools. Information will be sent in follow up materials…please be sure to forward on to your school • Event Kits requested and should be received at schools by early February.

Community Breakfast Event Update • Requirements of schools and event • Schools must: • Host event during NSBW, March 3-7, 2014 • Invite families, community members, or other leaders (not just a student event) • Follow MOA guidelines in terms of press releases (see below) • Funds to be used for event. Any left over funds (i.e., can only be used to improve the breakfast program) • Complete a brief report describing event, successes/challenges, and impacts (with quotes…please) • Events: • Meet the needs of the school • Can be done to highlight new breakfast initiatives, to educate families about the program, as part of another event (family night or other event)

Laurie Maeyert from Tracy Area Public Schools in MN • Hosted event as part of AFHK events in 2012 • Event included students, parents and other community members • Incorporated with opening of a new fitness room at the high school • Used breakfast to show changes to menu and what was happening in food service • Positive feedback from principal and superintendent • Sample of quotes shared: • “Wow this is fantastic” • “What a wonderful thing to do for the community to show us what the students are getting for breakfast” • “Thanks so much for putting on this event” • Questions?
