  1. Mother donates part of her liver to save her child

  2. Citrullinemia is an inherited disorder that causes ammonia and other toxic substances to accumulate in the body. Know the experience of a mother who helped her child get over the disease with some help from us. Braving citrullinemia I am Shabana, and my daughter’s name is Rafitha. On May 28th, which happens to be our wedding day, my daughter started experiencing fever for the first time, and this continued with her vomiting once a day and feeling worn out for the rest of the day.

  3. We visited a hospital since my child was finding it difficult to breathe. They only gave a 6-hour guarantee for her life and advised us to take her to a bigger hospital. We then visited Kauvery Hospital. Rafitha was diagnosed with citrullinemia, and liver transplant surgery was the only option for a permanent cure. Though I was hesitant about the surgery, I wanted it to be done fast since she rapidly lost weight. I accepted to be the donor for my child. One of the liver transplant specialists in Kauvery Hospital, Dr. Elankumaran, gave me confidence and hope about the treatment for my child.

  4. It is pretty challenging to perform the surgery on a child with less than 10kg. Still, Dr. Elankumaran completed the surgery without any complications, and as requested by me, the surgery was performed in Trichy. After getting discharged, she started feeling normal within two days, and now my child is healthy. Thanks to Kauvery Hospital! Kauvery Hospital Proper functioning of the liver is essential to remove toxins like Ammonia that are produced in our bodies. There was a problem with the enzymes that do this job, and this caused the symptoms mentioned above in Rafitha. The condition is called citrullinemia, and it is a very rare type of genetic liver condition.

  5. It can be quite upsetting for a parent to know that their child is experiencing a simple health condition, but it becomes difficult even to accept it when it is a rare genetic disease. Kauvery Hospital provides an accurate diagnosis and effective counseling for the parents and the proper treatment for the patient.

  6. Liver transplant surgeries can be done only in some hospitals since it requires experienced liver transplant surgeons and the right equipment. Kauvery Hospital employs well-experienced surgeons and world-class technologies for our service.
