  1. BrussellsETI Workshop 10.03.2003Draft ProjectMICRONANOSYS

  2. Vision of the project • Contribute to successfully RTD Projects in FP6 with strong involvement of SMEs • Contribute to the development of a worldwide recognized “European micro- and nanosystem excellence”

  3. Project objective Facilitating contacts SMEs - core groups to increase the SMEs participation and to insure a quality level. Examples of identified tasks: • Proactive initiation of project proposals and partnerships (e.g. matching call topics with competences / needs of project partners) • Proactive following of running IPs(adding new partners, training and dissemination)

  4. Sectorial Focus Mechanical and electrical engineering industries with following technological trends • miniaturization of products and components and increasing precision in production processes; • increasing complexityof systems (e.g. mechatronics), often composed of intelligent units (distributed intelligence) • modification of the surface of products(functional surfaces) and use of new materials, including composites; • further reduction of time to market

  5. Positioning in FP6 • Priority 2 / IST • Priority 3 / NanoMatPro • Priority 4 / Aero&Space (some activities) • Priorities 1&5 / Genomics&Food (some activities, only for the “mechanical” part [instrumentation, methods], not for the “living” part [biological systems].

  6. Involved partners In each involved country: • SME association(Up to date with SME needs and market reality / trends, contacts with SMEs) • National Contact Points (Up to date with FP6, Contacts with other NCPs and with Commission) • RTD Center (Up to date with newest results & research trends; contacts with other RTD Centers and IP core groups)

  7. Project partners Initiators of project • Swiss partners with industrial federation (Swissmem), Foundation for promotion & training in Microtechn. (FSRM), RTD Center in electrotechn. & microtechn. (CSEM), NCP Network (Euresearch) • Dutch partners with NCP Network (Senter/EG-Liaison), … Contacted potential partners in • Germany • France • Belgium • Italy

  8. And now? Further discussions during this workshop. Contacts • Cedric Höllmüller cedric.hoellmueller@euresearch.ch • Stan FranckeS.Francke@egl.nl
