  1. Overview of Process for Florida Retake Candidates 2005-2006 Candidate Cycle

  2. FL Retake Guidelines • Federal subsidy funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis (based on the date a candidate submits their retake app) • Only candidates who have not previously received federal funding are eligible to receive an allocation • Allocations will be made in the amount of $350 per candidate (The cost for each retake entry/exercise is $350) • Funding is limited and no more allocations will be granted once all funds are expended, regardless if the deadline has passed or not.

  3. FL Retake Process • NBPTS will create a report that identifies, in application submission order, the FL retake candidates who have not previously received federal funding. • NBPTS/FL DOE will use this report to create weekly transmittal memos that will be forwarded for processing. • IMPORTANT: Allocations will be awarded until either all FL federal subsidy funds have been expended or until January 13, 2006, whichever comes first.

  4. Things To Do DHETP Contacts: • Disseminate information to candidates FL DOE: • Update information on all state –produced materials (including DOE Web site) NBPTS: • Update FL retake information on NBPTS Web site

  5. Things To Keep In Mind • FL/DOE will send the first transmittal memo for processing on Wednesday, November 23. After that, transmittal memos will be sent for processing twice a week. • Eligible candidates should allow 7-14 days between the time they submit their retake application and the time the allocation is reflected on their account

  6. Things To Keep In Mind, cont. • Candidates will be responsible for making payments directly to NBPTS for any entry/exercise they wish to retake above and beyond what is funded with federal subsidy • Retake materials (for those candidates who are retaking portfolio entries) will not be shipped until full fee payment has been paid

  7. Highlights! • No more checks mailed to the DOE! • Retake application batches will be processed bi-weekly, so candidates should receive their materials much more expeditiously than in years past! • Requires no extra action or request from the candidate! NBPTS will let the DOE know who has submitted a retake app and who is eligible! • Process is streamlined!
