  3. Timeline Pre-med • Applications (Jul - Oct) • Interviews (Feb - Apr) • Offers of admission (May 15) Medical school • Pre-clerkship (1.5-2 years) • Clerkship (1.5-2 years) • Residency (2-6 years) • Licensed physician

Applications • Mid-July: OMSAS online application, COMPASS, becomes available • Sep 15: Deadline to register for an account on COMPASS • Oct 1: Deadline for applications, transcripts, confidential assessment forms (recommended) • Oct 6: Payment deadline • Oct 15: Deadline for release of MCAT scores

Interviews • Traditional interview • 20-40 min, 2-3 interviewers (often medical professionals) • Questions related to: • Personal background - know your application well! • Ethics, health care issues • The medical school • Multiple-mini interview (MMI) • McMaster, NOSM • 10-12 stations, 8 min each, different interviewer for each station (mix of faculty, students, members of the community) • Traditional questions + interactive situations

  12. Medical school • Pre-clerkship (1.5 or 2 years) • Clerkship (1.5 or 2 years) Granted Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) and MD degree • Residency (2-6 years) Accreditation by College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
