  3. New RS Website http://rs.ieee.org • All content updated or new. Site is already in 2nd release with new features over the last several months • Developed by RS web team with a LOT of training and help from the IEEE, particularly John Wettlaufer • Structured design and development and lots of testing! • Lots of new features, including: • Automatic updating of upcoming RS - sponsored conferences from the IEEE Conference Calendar (Home page and conferences page) • Map of actual locations of each of the RS Chapter • Much easier to maintain using the Joomla! Content Management System • Use of IEEE Templates • Four levels of accessibility (Based on IEEE Login): General Public, RS Member, AdCom Member, ExCom Member • RS is the first society to implement

  4. Work Continues on the Website • Assignment of web pages to responsible ExCom/AdCom personnel • Major “Tabs” assigned to “Owners” • Owners responsibility to assure currency of info, NOT Webmasters • Webmaster has ultimate responsibility to ensure new material is posted and to maintain website quality and integrity • Owners have “front end” update ability for their assigned pages (optional) • Training is available • RS Webmaster will always be available for those who need help or are not comfortable doing their own updates • Each of the RS Pubs are directly linked from the site, along with the RS Digital Library • RS Newsletters on new site and all archival newsletters have been migrated to the new site • Future work includes: • Researching best way to protect email addresses from “spambots” • Update Ops Manual to reflect changes

  5. T-DMR Status and Plans • T-DMR • Co-Sponsored by the RS and EDS (50% each) • Financial Obligations are split evenly • Six Member Advisory Board (three from each society) appointed by society president, with one member elected Chair (Currently Lu Casprzak) • 2 Year Terms • We have three slots but only One AB appointee (Todd Weatherford) – EDS has all three slots filled • Board also appoints EIC (Tony Oats) who then identifies Editors • EIC is also Advisory Board member • Need to fill the 2 vacant AB positions.

  6. TSM Status and Plans • Jointly sponsored by the IEEE Components, Packaging, and Manufacturing Technology Society (CPMT), the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS), in cooperation with the IEEE Reliability Society and the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Council (SSCC) • Six persons on the Editorial Board (identified as the Steering Committee in the TSM Publication). • The chair is elected by the Board (Gary May) • RS Board rep is Marsha Abramo + 1 vacant (need to fill) • EIC is appointed by the Board (Sean Cunningham) • Our copy of agreement does not show RS participation. Neither RS nor EDS (C. Jannuzzi) can find the correct copy. • Discussion about redoing MOU • Our financial obligations are dictated by our percentage in the membership (currently around 23%)

  7. S&P Status and Plans • Discussed at length in September ExCom • New EIC (John Viega) • RS Rep (Robin Bloomfield) • Will “unbundle” for 2013 • Robin and Jeff Voas attended the S&P Board meeting. • Productive Meeting, many changes and things are still settling down • Finance not presented, mostly editorial discussions • Special Issues were discussed • Robin doing special issue on Safety Critical Items in 2013 • Robin recommended two Department editors (Aad Van Moorsel and Mohamed Kaaniche) • working their 2nd issue. • Robin teleconed with them last week

  8. Journal on Photovoltaics (J-PV) • New Publication • Jointly owned by the EDS, RS, Industrial Electronics Society, Nanotechnology Council, Photonics Society, Power Electronics Society, Power and Energy Society • EDS owns 51%, RS owns 8% • Steering committee consists of 8 EDS members, 2 Photonics Society members and one member each from the rest of the societies. • RS rep is Prasad Chaparala • Two Issues Released in 2011 (July and October) • About 20 articles per issue • January and April 2012 issues released • Planning for July and October issues • Revised budget from IEEE HQ projects a 7.3K commitment in 2012

  9. Newsletter Status and Plans • Newsletter • Nicely produced by Shiuhpyng Shieh and his assistant, Hui-Wen Lin. • May issue released – will soon be soliciting input for August • Please consider input of any relevant type • Request input from each VP (not working well) • All back issues ported to the new RS Website

  10. T-Rel Status and Plans • Submissions: 298 papers received in 2011, anticipate a small increase 2012 – 10 papers over previous year as of end of May. •  900 pages published in 2011 • 1056 pages budgeted for 2012 • Anticipate clearing the queue in 2012, or close as is reasonable to do • June issue mailed, very large. • September issue will have about 24 papers • 968 pages budgeted for 2013 • PHM Special Sections in 2012, and two Special Sections planned for 2013 • Battery Reliability and Safety • Information, System, and Software Assurance: Research & Practice • Added 2 new AEs - SukJooBae (Korean University), and Guangbin Yang (Chrysler) • Adding 1 more AE in September - Olivier Gaudoin (Grenoble University, France)

  11. Impact factor rose, and now stable

  12. Submissions still increasing

  13. Therefore papers published still rising At the delivery of the September 2012 issue, we will have already published almost as many papers as any full year before!

  14. IEEE Editor’s Conference • Begin using Crosscheck – ability to compare submitted articles with database to determine if it resembles known papers. • Publish our review process on our website. As a body, the IEEE is concerned about the following topics: • Online publications as competition – controversial proposal to experiment at IEEE level. • Plagiarism • Author publication – a change in policy recently • Continuous improvement on cycle time and cost
