  5. DISCIPLESHIP HOW?

  6. DISCIPLE AS WARRIOR REALITY OF SPIRITUALCOMBAT The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8

  7. DISCIPLE AS WARRIOR REALITY OF SPIRITUAL COMBAT The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. John 10:10 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 Too many Christian men are not aware that everyday life is a battlefield. If they want to win, they have to develop certain skills to get closer to God.

  8. DISCIPLE AS WARRIOR Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:10-17

  9. DISCIPLE AS WARRIOR Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with thebelt of truth buckled around your waist, with thebreastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvationand the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-17

  10. DISCIPLE AS ATHLETE 1 Timothy 4:7-8 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.8 For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

  11. DISCIPLE AS ATHLETE 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

  13. Duchovní cvičení jsou způsob, jak vstoupit do míst, kde můžeme být vzděláváni Boží milostí. Dallas Willard But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2 Peter 3:18 trův 3:18 DISCIPLE AS APPRENTICE In “The Cost of Discipleship” Dietrich Bonhoeffer makes it clear that grace is free, but it is not cheap. The grace of God is unearned and unearnable, but if we ever expect to grow in grace, we must pay the price of a consciously chosen course of action which involves both individual and group life. Spiritual growth is the purpose of the Disciplines. Richard J Foster Spiritual disciplines are a way to put ourselves in a place to be taught by God’s grace. Dallas Willard

  24. TRAINING LEADERS The key to spiritual leadership is to encourage followers to grow in their relationship with the Lord. It can only be achieved when leaders bring their people face to face with God and he communicates with them and convinces them he can be trusted. Blackaby, Spiritual Leadership, page 110
