  4. For Redemption from Sin • Distinctions produced between the Father and the Son (and the Holy Spirit) • Father & Holy Spirit never became flesh • Jesus never gave up His deity, Col. 2:9 • Yet, Jesus said, “My Father is greater than I”(Jno. 14:28)

  5. God Deity Divine Nature -Father--Son- • No distinction, Col. 2:9 • Equality, Jno. 1:1; 5:17-18; 8:58; 10:30, 33, 36, 37-38 • Son worthy of all honor of deity,Jno. 5:23 (Matt. 8:2; 28:9; Jno. 20:28)

God Deity Human Nature Submission to Father • GLORY: Jesus emptied Himself of the form of God & took the form of a servant, Phil. 2:5-8 • morphe: “the form by which a person or thing strikes the vision”… “outward appearance” • Son emptied himself of the glory of deity when He became man, Jno. 1:14

  7. God Deity Human Nature Submission to Father • SERVANT: Jesus serves as Savior under the authority of the Father, Jno. 14:28 • Came to do Father’s will, Jno. 6:38 (5:19, 30; 8:28-29; 12:49-50) • “I have come to do Your will, O God”(Heb. 10:7) • Voluntary & accomplished, Jno. 10:17-18; 17:4

  8. God Deity Human Nature Submission to Father • SERVANT: Jesus serves as Savior under the authority of the Father, Jno. 14:28 • Respected Father’s domain, Acts 1:7 (Mt. 24:36) • Holy Spirit works under similar authority,John 16:13-14 • Gentile understood this about Jesus, Matt. 8:9

  9. God Deity Redemption “All in complete all” • Complete oneness of the Godhead • Christ was given “all authority” (Jno. 3:35) • Work completed…Son has His previous form (appearance) of deity’s eternal glory, Jno. 17:4-5 (Col. 3:11) 1 Cor. 15:24-28

  10. Father God Deity • Son is not inferior to Father • Functions under authority of Father • Holy Spirit(Jn. 16:13-15) • All the fullness of Godhead dwells in Jesus, Col. 2:9 • Deny the Son…also deny the Father, 1 Jno. 2:23 (Heb. 2:9) H.S. Son
