  3. Leviticus is the book of laws which springs directly out of God’s covenant with his people at Sinai. Exodus 19-23

  4. You must be holy, because I, the Lord your God am holy. Leviticus 19:2

  5. Principles that still have value today • The revelation of the divine character and holiness of God. • The emphasis on the sinfulness of humans and our estrangement from God. • The redemptive ministry of Christ and how we are restored with God. • The body of civil laws from a theocracy (God-ruled) nation that provided a foundation for civil law today.

  7. Leviticus is called the Book of Atonement! Leviticus 16:29-34

  8. The word “atonement” is from the Hebrew word “kaphar” it means to “cover” or to “cancel” and in the Greek, it means to “exchange” or “reconciliation”

  9. The primary purpose of the book was to show Israel how to live in fellowship with God through its walk, worship and service.
