  3. What Is A Biome? • Biome (defined) A major land ecosystem with a distinct type of plant life. • Remember that the plant life is influenced by climate.

  4. World Biomes • The location of biomes is determined mostly by climate (rainfall and temperature) • Other factors: • 1. Latitude(distance from the equator) • 2. Topography • 3. Prevailing winds

  5. Biomes • Biomes do not begin and end sharply. • Ecotone(defined) An area between two ecosystems or biomes. ie. shore of a pond.
