T=2.Carl Sagan’s speech, given on July 3, 1988, at Gettysburg, is too negative about the use of nuclear technology. • R=Specifically, he only discusses the negative uses of the nuclear energy. • I and Q=For example, “the United States used the first atomic bombs to annihilate two Japanese cities. Each of those weapons had the equivalent power of about ten thousand tons of TNT, enough to kill a few hundred thousand people” (22-25) . • A=Clearly, this bomb had that destructive force, but nuclear technology has not been used since the end of World War II to destroy; it has been used in other areas such as “the Challenger space shuttle and the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, high technology systems…” (66-67) . • P=In conclusion, Carl Sagan’s speech is too negative about the potential use of all nuclear technology.
