  1. Global School for Advanced Studies: Session on GrapheneGrenoble, France – June 20-26, 2011 R. P. H. Chang, Northwestern University, DMR 0706439 • The third GSAS Session was held on the topic of Graphene Fundamentals and Applications at the GIANT campus in Grenoble, France from June 20-26, 2011. • Scholars were divided into 3 teams and challenged to work together to come up with a research project proposal and a power point presentation that took advantage of their complementary skills and previous experience. • Scholars came from very diverse backgrounds. There were 21 scholars representing 13 different citizenships and working in 10 different countries • Scholars were mentored throughout the week by leaders in the field of Graphene and were given the opportunity to present their individual research during a poster session and also had the opportunity to visit MINATEC labs and the showroom.

Chang, Northwestern University, DMR 0706439 • Team 1 Scholars offered • Postdoctoral Positions at GIANT • Teams presented their project to an audience of mentors and CEA-LETI directors. Team 1 was selected as having the most promising and innovative project. • The goal of their project, 3D Mesoporous Hybrid Graphene Nanostructure for Energy Applications, was to fabricate a 3 dimensional (3D) mesoporous hybrid graphene nanoparticle based supercapacitor. • Each Team 1 member was offered a post-doctoral position at GIANT. The anticipated start date for these positions is in 2012.
