  2. Wanted: dead or ALIVE Revelation 14:13

  3. Rev 14:13 And I heard a voice from heavensaying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

  4. What is man? • Psalm 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? • Gén2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

  5. What is man? • Gen 3:19 “for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” • Psalm 103:14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. • Prov 8:26 While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

  6. How was man made? • Gén 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

  7. Breakdown • God formed the dust (man) • God breathed into the formed dust (man) • And the formed dust (man) became a living soul.

  8. Big Question #1 • Did man exist before he was formed?

  9. What is death? • Gen 3:19 “for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” • Job 34:15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust. • Psalm 146:4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

  10. What is death? • Ecl 8:8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death. • Ecl 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

  11. Breakdown • Formed dust loses the breath of life. • Formed dust loses its form (decay) • And returned to ground before it was formed by God.

  12. Big Question #2 • Does man exist when he loses his form?

  13. No ability • Eccl 8:8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death.

  14. Big Question #3 • Does the spirit belong to man? • Ecl 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

  15. What is special about us? • Ecl3:19-20 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. • All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

  16. What is special about us? Names Written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Rev 13:8 • Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. • Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

  17. What is the hope? • And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. Rev_14:13.

  18. What is the hope? • By Jesus’ mighty achievement on Calvary, He transformed the grave from being merely a hole in the ground to be a tunnel. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. • Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

  19. Rev 22:7 • Blessed are they that do his commandments..

  20. What is Resurrection? • Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

  21. Valley of dry bones • Ez 37:1-14 Resurrection is a repeat of creation excepting that in this case we have a record (bones). By observing bones one can trace not only the identity of the dead but facts of the individuals’ life. • A type of the record kept in heaven.

  22. When is this resurrection? • 1 Thess4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent (precede) them which are asleep.

  23. When is this resurrection? • 1 Thess4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: • The word “First” is a reference to the first resurrection.

  24. What does it mean to “die in the Lord?” • John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, • If we abide in Christ while we live, we shall be accounted of the same in death.

  25. What does it mean to “die in the Lord?” • Plp1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. (Suretyof Christ) • 2Ti 2:11-13 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.

  26. Identity the blessed • Appears in the verse prior to verse 13. • They are identified so that we may know what it means to “live in the Lord” for only those who live in the Lord can “die in the Lord.”

  27. Revelation 14:12 • Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. • They will reveal in their lives just what the Christian world currently teaches are opposed to each other.

  28. Revelation 14:12 • Concerning these saints it will be said as it was said of faithful Israel : • Núm23:21-23 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them. . According to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, “What hath God wrought!”

  29. Righteousness by Faith. • Psalm 119:172 “All thy commandments are righteousness.” • Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. • God Forbid
