Purpose • What could happen if you plugged too many cords into one outlet? • What could happen if you put a sharp knife into a sink full of soapy water? • What would happen if you stuck a fork in a toaster that is plugged in? • What would happen if you put metal in a microwave? • What could happen if you used your fingers to pick up broken glass? • What could happen if you used appliances near water? • What could happen if you left food at room temperature for more than 2 hours? • What could happen if you touched a burner, even after it has been turned off? • What could happen if you cut toward yourself? • What could happen if you left the kitchen for more than a few minutes while cooking?

  3. Do not plug too many cords into one outlet.

  4. Do not put sharp knives into a sink full of soapy water.

  5. Do not stick a knife or a fork into a toaster that is plugged in.

  6. Do not put metal objects in a microwave.

  7. Use a broom and a dustpan to pick up broken glass, not your fingers!

  8. Do not use appliances near water or with wet hands.

  9. Do not leave food at room temperature for more than two hours.

  10. Do not touch burners on the stove even after they are turned off.

  11. Do not cut toward yourself.

  12. Never leave the kitchen for more than a few minutes while cooking.

  13. Always think and be safe in the kitchen!
