Service Level Management • SLM in the DoD is primarily about Risk understanding and mitigation, not financial penalties • Joint commander and staff need to determine network information needed in order to make risk management decisions • Defining services and relationship of services to missions • Comparison between Verizon external trouble ticket interfaces using eBonding • Joint training standards to establish common practices and consistency • Development of Operational Level Agreements (OLA) to establish unity of effort in service management • To implement data exchange interfaces, it is critical to identify mutual benefits between parties • To achieve required service levels, good network design is more important than establishing SLAs • Achieving required service level management objectives can only be accomplished by institutionalizing service management into DoD doctrine (CJCSM 3130.02, CJCSM 3122.01, and JPub 3.0/5.0/6.0)
