Role of Harry Coumnas as a Pilot Astronaut • As the pilot astronaut, Harry Coumnas researches new technologies that could be used in space exploration. • He is responsible for the vehicle and its crew on the shuttle mission. • He has direct activities aboard the shuttle to ensure the safety of the flight and success of the shuttle mission. • Harry coordinates crew activities and corrects system malfunctions. He also plans and trains for future space exploration.
