Harry Coumnas Loves to Spend Most of His Time Reading About Mars • Harry Coumnas spends most of his time reading about Mars and whether life exists there or not. • He points that the spacecraft that was sent to Mars has proven that life indeed exists there. • Holding a strong scientific background and PhD in his field, he is best fit for his job. • He is concerned about avoiding the biological contamination in human and robotic space exploration. • Besides, Harry takes precautions to protect the Earth’s biosphere in case life does exist elsewhere.

He Works to Assist in the Construction of Sterile Spacecraft • Harry works to assist in the construction of sterile spacecraft, and the development of plans to protect Earth from returned extraterrestrial samples. • He is also involved in the formulation and application of space policy as it applies to Planetary Protection. • He ensures compliance with NASA policy and international agreements and works in conjunction with solar system mission planners. • Harry supports the origins of life on solar system and supports the scientific study of chemical evolution.
