  6. Sexual Harassment Discussion • What is Sexual Harassment? • What are types of Sexual Harassment? • What can we do to prevent it?

Sexual Harassment is behavior or words that... • May be directed at an individual because of their gender.  • Are uninvited, unwanted, and unwelcomed.  • Cause an individual to feel uncomfortable or offended.  • Creates an environment that makes learning difficult.  • May be repeated or may be offensive on a one-time basis.

True or False? • You cannot sexually harass another person using social media. • If you sexually harass someone you can be sued in court. • Sexual harassment can only occur between people of the opposite sex. • Sexually inappropriate text messages are considered a form of sexual harassment. • Spreading rumors about a person can be a form of sexual harassment.

  9. Consequences of Sexual Harassment • Parent/Guardian notified  • Police may be called if serious incident has occurred • Possible suspension or expulsion

A-G Requirements • Classes required to take and pass to attend most California colleges (UCs and CSUs) • A: History (2 years) • B: English (4 years) • C: Math (3 years) • D: Science (2 years) • 1 year of life science • 1 year of physical science • E: Foreign Language (2 years) • F: Visual and Performing Arts (1 year) • G: College Preparatory Elective (1 year) • You MUST receive a C or better in A-G classes

  12. Understanding Options for Your Future  • 4-Year Colleges/Universities • CSU System, UC System, Private Colleges • Community College • Palomar, MiraCosta, etc.  • Vocational/Technical Programs • Military • Work

MAP Program • Guaranteed admissions programbetween California State University, San Marcos and Escondido Union High School District • Requirements: • M: Maintain a rigorous course of study (completing A-G UC/CSU admission criteria with a 3.0 GPA) • A: Attend school daily (maintaining a minimum of 98% attendance rate over 4 years) • P: Participate in school and/or community activities (minimum total of 100 hours) • Other requirements: take SAT or ACT, continuous enrollment in the district since 9th grade MAP Scholarshipavailable to those who meet eligibility requirements!

  15. Create a 4-Year Plan 4-Year Planning Worksheet Complete the top section with  your name, ID#, DOB, Contact Info, Counselor, etc.

  16. 9th Grade Year • List the classes you are currently taking under Fall Semester • First Semester = A (Fall) • For Spring Semester, list what classes you will be taking  • Second Semester = B (Spring) • Typically, classes are a year-long (except Health, College & Career) First Semester = A Health and College & Career are only 1 semester each If you are taking a 0 or 7 period class

  17. 10th Grade Year What classes do I take during 10th grade? • Possible Core Classes: • English 10A/B or English 10A/B Honors • World History A/B or AP European History A/B • Math 2A/B • Science - Physical Science: Earth Systems A/B,  Chemistry A/B,  or Physics A/B OR Biology A/B (if not taken during 9th grade) • PE 10th grade A/B • Elective Classes to Consider: • Fine Art or World Language • CTE class • Questions to guide your planning: • Do you plan to take any honors or AP classes? • What electives should you take? • What classes should you take to meet A-G requirements?

  19. Before planning 11th & 12th grade, consider the following:  Do you have 2 years of Math planned for graduation?  Are you planning to take the 3rd year of Math to meet A-G? Sequence:  • Math 1 • Math 2 • Math 3S OR Math 3C • Math 4 OR AP Calculus OR AP Statistics

Do you have a Biological and a Physical Science planned?    Are you planning to go to a 4-year university?  Interested in a Medical Field Career?  If so, consider a 3rd or 4th year of science. • Biological Science Options • Biology • Human Anatomy & Phys. • Human Anatomy & Phys.   24. You Completed a 4-Year Plan! Turn in your 4-year planning worksheet before you leave today!  Your Counselor will assist you each year in reviewing your plan and making sure you are on track to graduate.     If you would like a copy, go to the Counseling Office.
