  7. Program Requirements • Open to both Graduate and Undergraduate Students • Completion of 2 years of study in Canada • Nominated by home university • Pay tuition at home university • International Students may participate

  8. Opportunities • One or two semester exchanges • Two semester exchanges strongly encouraged • Get full value from the exchange • Summer Language and Culture Program • 4 Weeks

  9. Opportunities • Summer Research Program • Minimum of 3 months • Scholarship of $3000 • Work with a Chinese supervisor in your field as part of research team

  12. Opportunities • Intensive Mandarin Studies • Nanjing Normal University • 4-6 Weeks • Enhance your Mandarin capabilities • No tuition but you must cover your accommodation and some minor costs for local visits

  15. SCHOLARSHIPS • $2500 for one semester • $3000 for two semesters • $3000 for Summer Research • $2000 for Chinese Language and Culture Programs

Challenges • Availability of English medium courses for regular exchange programs • Can be limited for discipline courses • Identify specific core course credit requirements on application • We will try and accommodate through reading courses, project-based courses, lab courses • May requires some flexibility—e.g. defer core courses • We have managed to accommodate specific student course requirements where possible

Challenges • Differences in semester timings • Fall semester is September to mid January • Winter semester is mid February to mid-July • Strong reason for a two semester exchange • Students on one semester exchange, particularly fall, may negotiate special arrangements to complete course requirements by end of December • Students on winter exchange can opt to work until February or travel in China before starting exchange • Chinese New Year

What Next?? • Apply to your home university first • Selected Regular and Summer Research student applications forwarded to OJS Program Office by home university by Jan 31, 2017 • Placements considered by Academic Directors in February-March • Successful applicants advised by early April 2017 • Deadline for Summer Language and Culture Programs is March 1, 2017 • Orientation Session • Will be held in MAY at York University • Regular Program Commences September 2017
