Presentation Transcript

  1. Unfolding habitats and the development of photosynthesis, transpiration and respiration.

  2. How habitats are engrossed by plants and animals • Habitats are natural environments which organisms live. • Organisms such as plants and animals thrive in certain habitats. • Habitats include places to eat, drink, and have shelter.

  3. Plants and animals and their habitats • Only certain organisms can live in certain habitats. • Factors like temperature, climate, water sources, food sources, and shelter affect which organisms can live in certain habitats.

  4. photosynthesis • The process of converting light and chemical energy into sugar and storing it for later use. • Formula: 6CO2+ 6H2O (+ light energy) C6H12O6 + 6O2 • Takes place in the chloroplast • (chloroplast is the green pigment in plants)

  5. respiration • Respiration is the act of inhaling and exhaling • Plants respire by taking in CO2 and exhaling O2

  6. transpiration • Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the bottom part of leaves • This allows excess water to be evaporated • Water returned to air by transpiration
