  2. Service Project Background Throughout high school, I worked closely with an organization called Children of Sderot. This organization is based out of the north and sends children from Sderot, Israel to summer camps in the United States. http://rjcf.com/SderotJournal/

  3. What is Sderot? • Sderot, Israel is a town close to the Gaza Strip that is affected by rockets and missiles just as much as the actual war zones. The town can have as many as fifty missile alarms a day. • When the missile alarm is sounded, residents have 15 seconds to find a bomb shelter. • Living in an environment like this has left many young children traumatized. • Children of Sderotraises money to send these children to summer camps away from the warzone. This helps them live normal lives and experience a time period away from these traumatizing alarms.

  4. Service project • I made bracelets to sell in order to raise money for this organization. • In a two week period, I managed to raise over $100 to go towards this organization. • In total, I raised over $250.

  5. Service Project • I also compiled an informational video about the project and town of Sderot. • This video featured narration, pictures, and an interview from someone who has actually been to Sderot. • This way people could be informed as to what their money was going towards.

  6. Reflection • I learned many things from organizing this service project which include: • How to actually organize a service project • How to use movie maker programs • How to conduct an interview • How to help others • I also know that by doing this project, I helped send children to have an amazing experience.
