  1. CVUSD Technology Committee DAC Meeting Update 3/08/2011 Dawn Stone – DAC Representative

New Computers • Order placed for 763 PCs, mostly desktops • Sites are working on images for the PCs • Seven sites have received delivery notices • Redwood has received shipment and has configured PCs • Lang Ranch received delivery on 2/14 • Jerome is working with Site Techs on roll out plans • Last order for Phase I should be complete by end of February

  3. Upgrades • Currently working on RFP for additional RAM • Second purchase (Phase II) with site funds will be early March • Need feedback once current shipments are completely deployed

  4. New Technology • Wireless • Purchased 60 access points • Working on rollout plan • County office is assisting in roll out • Working with vendors on quotes for assistance • Have identified a funding source • District was overbilled by Verizon, using refund • Completed 2 access points (Sycamore)

  5. Communications • Technology Committee formed a “Communications” sub-committee • Committee circulated first newsletter last month • Superintendent Symposium update • 600 superintendents • Harvard Center for New Learning • Apple Education session

  6. Brainstorming – Future of Technology in Schools • Wireless • Cloud Computing • Digital Textbooks • Combined distance learning and classroom • Using industry standard software • Grade level expectations for students on current technology • Smartphones • Digital Devices

  7. Professional Development • Dr. Barstaad believes technology will grow organically within the district • Tech Committee may run a grant program for teachers submitting emerging technology projects • May add a ‘Teachers Only’ area in Moodle • Majority of Technology Committee is attending “CUE” • Walk the floor for ideas on best products
