  2. What exactly is it? • We will be making a troubleshooting desk for the IT Club to help students and staff with their computers. • It will be good experience for the first year students. • The workbench will make a good edition to the IT Club at South Hills, not only for troubleshooting but for general assembly of computers.

  3. What is the point of this? • Proper tools needed for the IT Club all in one convenient place. • Organized and safe work place for electronics. • It will help the IT Club be more efficient in fixing student/ staff computers • We will now be able to advertise around the school that the IT Club will diagnose and attempt to fix your computer for free.

  4. Troubleshooting hardware • ESD mat • Hand held tools, Screw/torxDrivers, suction cups, pry tools, heat gun, wire cutters, tweezers, small scissors, heat tape, multi-meter, compressed air, small brush. • Testing computer (Specifications on next slide) • HDD Cloning dock. Dock will include two bay slots for transferring and cloning data. It will support 2.5” & 3.5” HDD’s, supporting USB 2.0 and eSATA.

  5. Other hardware included in the build • There will be an overhead light attached to the frame of the hutch. • There will be small drawers for screws and components on top of the desk. • There will be a hutch comprised of peg board and a frame for bin storage and hand tool storage. • There will be a cable management hole in the back right of the desk. • There will be a swing arm for the monitor to attach to the side of the desk. • There will be rails for the keyboard and mouse to slide under the desk.

  6. Testing computer • The testing computer will be used for virus removal, testing dead HDD’s, and other dead components such as video cards, NIC cards, monitors, RAM, fans, and wiring. • Installed software includes: Malware Bytes, Avast, and Sea Tools for troubleshooting software.
