  1. Icon Identification Little pictures that represent an item such as a file or folder.

  2. You will need to recognize icons for the following items. • Application • Document • Folder • Hard Drive • CD

  3. Application Icons • The two icons at left represent application software. • The top icon is Firefox. • The bottom icon is Adobe InDesign.

  4. Document Icons • The top icon is a document produced in Adobe InDesign. • The bottom icon is a document produced in Microsoft Word. • Notice how the graphic is similar to the application icon. • The difference is that the graphic looks like it is placed on a page and the corner is folded down.

  5. Folder Icon • Folder icons are easy to identify; they look like file folders.

  6. Hard Disk Icon • Notice how the icon looks like a hard metal case.

  7. CD Icon • As you can see, the CD icon looks just like a real CD.
