  2. Introduction • Flight has become a major mode of transportation in today's society. • This web quest project will provide an introduction to our Air Transportation unit. • Your task will be for you to research and investigate the Theory of Flight.

  3. Task • Work individually • Identify and define the forces required for flight • Sketch a diagram showing these forces acting on an aircraft • Apply this information to your air racer project

  4. Process • Research the Theory of Flight using the internet • Start by using the listed resources found on the next slide • Additional web sites of your own may be used • Record notes and other needed information on a separate sheet of paper • Write a short essay explaining the theory of flight • Short essay must discuss the forces required for flight • Create a diagram representing these forces

Conclusion • You now will have an understanding of the theory of flight • Your research and investigation will allow you to identify how forces act upon an aircraft • Use your new knowledge to troubleshoot, adjust, and make any modifications necessary to improve the performance of your air racer project

Teachers • This project is intended for an Introduction to Technology class. • Its purpose is to introduce students to the theory of flight • It is also designed to teach students how to effectively research information using the internet • For planning purposes, 2 - 3 80 minute class periods should be expected
